It’s been a tough year for the film industry… so the aim for The Slop Shack’s second film festival was to encourage a return to the theatrical experience and highlight the work of emerging South-East Queensland filmmakers.
LIGHT UP, The Slop Shack’s annual film festival, ran a bit different this year. After being postponed from April due to COVID-19, we were finally able to return to Reading Cinemas Newmarket in December… now with the opportunity to celebrate the QUT Film, Screen & New Media class of 2020.

Like last year, we’re continued to expand the notion of a traditional film festival and celebrated the amazing filmmaking talent in Queensland! On the night, we screened films that both CELEBRATE THE LIGHT ☀️ and EMBRACE IN THE DARK 🌕… embracing duality and appreciating the yin-yang of life.
