Since launching in December 2017, The Slop Shack has grown larger than we ever anticipated. We have met hundreds of talented artists in South-East Queensland that are as driven to create as we are – and in 2019 we’ve begun to facilitate the grounds for aspiring creators to execute on their creative ambitions and participate in a like-minded community setting. Our mission, from the beginning, has been to unite this wave of prosumers – our imagination generation – and to assist those who aren’t enabled… whether for lack of resources, a platform, or encouragement. There are far too many of us sitting on incredible ideas.

So we’ve organised a short film festival to demonstrate the talents harboured in students and young filmmakers across South-East Queensland. We’ve expanded the notion of a traditional festival by opening our submissions to anything and everything – shorts, music videos, experiments, video essays, micro-docs, vlogs and maybe even impressive gifs (who knows?).

Featuring awards, special guests, free glow sticks and the chance to show your crazy projects on Reading‘s silver screen – we hope this event will light up faces, brains, and the community.
